Heather and Dave’s colorful outdoor Summer Wedding at Oak Hill Farm in Apple River, Illinois

Here’s a bright, joyful Summer wedding to warm up our Winter!

Heather and Dave are extraordinary people who are even more extraordinary together. Every detail of the Wedding was planned to perfection, but they also let loose and had a great time! I loved all the color and lushness of the farm setting. There were so many moments to capture, it was like being a kid in a candy store. 🙂 Heather has a major affinity for horses, and I’m a huge animal lover, so getting to take photos with the horses was one of the highlights of the day! Check out my favorite photos from the day, as well as some fantastic words from the Bride and Groom (I particularly love Heather’s advice)!

Looking back, what were some of your favorite parts or moments of the Wedding day?
The ceremony and first dance!  Those were ironically the two things I despised the most before my wedding day, because they are so traditional.  Dave and I woke up the next morning with our first dance song in our heads.  It was euphoric!

What was your favorite piece of fashion or accessory, and where did you get it?
THE DRESS from Wedding Bells in Barrington.  Also my brooch from Lulu Splendor (found on etsy).

What was the inspiration for your decor or styling?
The inspiration for my decor was rustic meets french country, with a dash of vintage.  This comes from my love for horses, the outdoors and also my grandmother who collected antiques and was fond of anything beautiful and vintage.  Dave and I enjoy the outdoors together so this was the perfect venue for us!

Mention a funny moment here:
My veil fell off while walking up the aisle with my father.  He wanted to grab it but I told him to forget it.  It was too windy and wouldn’t have stayed on anyway!

Any wedding advice for engaged couples?
I was so caught up thinking about how nervous I’d be during the ceremony with everyone staring at me.  I think this is the case for a lot of people, so I just want to tell them to know you won’t be nervous at all. Once I saw Dave and connected eyes with him, it was like no one else existed.  It was one of the most powerful moments of my life. In the morning hours leading up I sort of let that anxiety get to me, and I want to tell everyone it’s nothing to worry about!  You will be confident, beautiful and it will be like you’re alone up there just the two of you.

Tell us about the Honeymoon!
The honeymoon was spectacular!  We went to Peru and Ecuador.  We stopped in six or so different places but my favorite destination was Puerto Maldonado to check out the Amazon Rainforest in the most breath taking luxury cabana… it was a fine glamping experience!  Then my second favorite was a two day horseback riding tour in the Highlands of Ecuador.  We stayed at a ranch house owned by two Ecuadorians and stayed in their guest house. It was so charming, authentic and one heck of a fun horsing adventure!
