Jen and Alex’s city brunch Wedding at River Roast in Chicago, Illinois

Jen and Alex are super fun, lighthearted Couple who wanted a laid back but elegant day-time Wedding, with amazing views of Chicago. The wedding took place at one of our favorite venues, River Roast. Everyone got ready at the nearby Wit Hotel, and we took a few photos around the area before the indoor Ceremony at River Roast. Jen and Alex got to hang out with their guests outside on the veranda, overlooking the Chicago river. Everyone was treated to yummy brunch food, there were some beautiful speeches, and then it was time to party with Toast and Jam’s Rachel! Check out the Q&A with the Couple, and then on to my favorite photos from the day! You can also see Jen and Alex’s wonderful review for us on Yelp:

Looking back, what were some of your favorite parts or moments of the Wedding day?
The WHOLE Day…is that cheating? Honestly, the entire day was perfect. It was an extremely early morning but everything went so smoothly, we had the majority of our photos completed before the ceremony and still had time to sit back and relax, let the bridal party have a snack, water and some coffee before our 11:00am ceremony. We were able to have a look at the reception while everyone was still at cocktail hour, eat some of the hors d’oeuvres and have a little practice dance before joining the cocktail hour. It was such a nice sunny warm day and it was April in Chicago…absolutely amazing weather. Our wedding was over by 4pm and we invited the out of town-ers to meet us for deep dish pizza for dinner later that night. It was a full day of wedding activities and it was just so much fun!

What was your favorite piece of fashion or accessory, and where did you get it?
I had a few meaningful pieces, my something borrowed was the bracelet that my maid of honor wore on her wedding day, my something old was a piece of the lace from my mother’s wedding dress that was wrapped around my bouquet and my something blue was my grandmother’s diamond and sapphire ring.

What was the inspiration for your decor or styling?
We wanted to have a brunch wedding, so the daytime and casual but still formal vibe really drove our decor. When we chose River Roast as our venue, that really helped to solidify our style. Utilizing the brick and wood throughout, we brought in brighter pops of color and clear vases and votives to keep the room looking light. Both of us love to travel and we have spent 2.5 years in a long distance relationship, so we had to bring in a little travel theme throughout the reception as well, highlighting places we have visited at each table.

Mention a funny moment here:
After our first kiss, before walking down the aisle, our entire wedding party took a selfie in front of our wedding guests 🙂

Any wedding advice for engaged couples?
Plan, plan, plan, but on your wedding day, trust your vendors and relax, have fun and enjoy your day. I’m pretty sure I had a smile on my face the whole day.

Tell us about the honeymoon!
Because of our long distance relationship we are still just enjoying living in the same house in the same city state and country. The honeymoon is still TBD, we welcome suggestions but right now anywhere from Hawaii, Budapest and Greece are on our list!

What was it like working with Sprung Photo?
It was lovely working with Sprung Photo, the entire process up to the wedding day went smoothly. Mostly communicating via email and questionnaires, we were able to communicate what we were looking for and what our must haves for our day were going to be. The day of went so smoothly, I didn’t have to worry about Victoria and her team knowing what to do, they just went off to work while I was busy getting my hair and makeup done. We received all of our photos and absolutely fell in love with them, there were so many shots that I didn’t even realize were being captured but I feel most of those are the ones you really cherish.
