Angela and Bart’s Wedding at Cantigny, Wheaton, IL

Angela and Bart have such a cool love story. It’s very evident in their Wedding photos how much love, respect, and adoration they have for each other. From their gorgeous Church to their equally as gorgeous reception venue, there’s lots of beauty to behold! Take a look at some Q&A with the Bride and Groom, and then on to some photos!

Looking back, what were some of your favorite parts or moments of the Wedding day?

Angela: Exchanging vows with Bart, walking the gardens at Cantigny, taking photos with Bart and our bridal party, listening to the wedding toasts, and visiting with our guests at the reception and post-reception.

Bart: Marrying Angie, of course. Second, the party. My parents secretly took dance classes before the wedding, and they rocked the dance floor. The band (North Coast Orchestra) was amazing. Everyone had a great time.

What was your favorite piece of fashion or accessory, and where did you get it?

Angela: Two favorites: my dress and my Mother’s veil. I found my Liancarlo dress at Ultimate Bride on Chicago’s Oak Street. I knew I wanted a cream/off-white light-weight lace dress. I found this dress at UB. With my Mom’s permission, I had Veiled by Cha Cha remove the headpiece from my Mom’s veil and put it on a comb. The dress and veil (with lace accent) matched very well.

Bart: My wedding ring.

What was the inspiration for your decor or styling?
Angela: Nature. We selected Cantigny Park for our afternoon activities and evening reception because of the gardens. We tried to bring the gardens into “Le Jardin”, our banquet hall, through our floral arrangements. The hall – aptly named for our theme – was a beautiful sight to take in. Each table at the reception had a large floral centerpiece with pink rose petals scattered around the plate settings.

Bart: What she said 😉

Mention a funny moment here:

Angela: When the emcee announced that it was time for the Bride and Groom to cut the wedding cake, Bart and I walked up to the cake only to find no plate, server or knife. What to do? When we asked for help, one of our guests, Peter, offered me his butter knife, which I graciously accepted. Bart and I sliced into the cake and apparently we should’ve stopped there. When I attempted to serve a piece of cake using the butter knife, the entire top layer of cake toppled over and onto the table next to the rest of the cake. The cake cutting experience was comedic. Bart even used the mishap as opening material for his groom’s speech 😉

Bart: Angie and I were both dreading the first dance. Angie dances beautifully, but I have two left feet and no sense of rhythm. So we decided we should take dance lessons to practice our first dance. Only … we were really busy in the months before the wedding and pushed the dance lesson back until the last minute: 2 days before our wedding. The look on our instructor’s face was priceless when she discovered our timeline. But she taught us some simple moves, and by some miracle, all went well with our dance on the night of our wedding.

Any advice for future Brides and Grooms?

Bart and Angela: Get a band. Totally worth it!

Are you going on honeymoon? Where?

Angela: After our wedding, Bart and I vacationed in Wisconsin with both his parents and my parents and several of his friends from Belgium. We had a really nice time. We haven’t picked a honeymoon destination yet.
