Diana and Alex’s Wedding at Saint Clement and Salvage One in Chicago, Illinois

Diana and Alex have that kind of head over heels love that absolutely exudes throughout the photos I’m about to share. They were all smiles, all day, and were an absolute delight to work with. I’m going to let their brilliant answers to the Q&A do the rest of the talking!

Looking back, what were some of your favorite parts or moments of the Wedding day?
Diana: There are so many to choose from! Definitely, walking down the aisle and seeing Alex’s face. It made me the happiest and I’ll never forget it. Also, waving to everyone after the ceremony from the front of the church felt like a dream, like we were addressing the masses! Too funny! Riding the trolley to the reception, the moment when we really felt like we could finally relax and celebrate….and I can’t fail to mention all of the dancing at the reception – what a dance floor we had!!!
Alex: Agreed with Diana that there are so many to choose from but for me it was the overwhelming feeling of happiness that overtook me when I first saw Diana coming down the aisle. As evidenced by the photos I just about lost it, the happiest I’ve ever been. Getting to spend a few minutes together after the ceremony on the side of the church in our own separate room was the most surreal feeling, hard to believe that we had just got married. Everything about the reception was great, mingling with friends and dancing the night away will forever be engrained in my mind!

What was your favorite piece of fashion or accessory, and where did you get it?
Diana: My favorite accessory was my veil. It was floor length with gorgeous lace/floral detail on it, from Dimitra’s Bridal. The moment I put it on, I instantly felt like a bride.
Alex: My custom made tux from Formally Modern Tuxedo. It was a classic rounded lapel jacket with some modern updates and I like how my suit stood out slightly from my groomsmen with the differences in color. Probably the nicest piece of clothing I’ve ever worn or will ever wear.

What was the inspiration for your decor or styling?
Honestly, Salvage One was the inspiration. Once we locked them down for our venue, we chose all of our decorations to go with the amazing space.

Mention a funny moment here:
Diana: Right before leaving for the church, I spotted a caterpillar in my bouquet. It was the weirdest thing but also so funny because we all started talking about it and thought that it would turn into a butterfly at the ceremony and just fly out. Looking back, it was such a funny memory and a good omen for the day.
Alex: My brother was so nervous to give his best man speech that he looked like a ghost all day leading up to it, he seemed like he was the one who was getting married! He ended up killing the speech and doing an amazing job and once he was finished it was like a switch had flipped, all the color back in his face, nothing but grins and happiness from that point forward.

Any advice for future Brides and Grooms?
Don’t forget to step aside and take some time to celebrate with each other. It’s easy to get caught up in the festivities with your entire family and friends there but having time alone to celebrate with just you two is one of the most special moments of the day.

Tell us about the honeymoon!
We had the most amazing time on our honeymoon to Europe! We started with 3 nights in Paris with tons of sightseeing and museum exploring. Next we flew to Cannes & Nice and spent 4 days enjoying the beaches, food and wine of southern France. We then took a train to Cinque Terre in Italy and enjoyed another 4 nights of hiking, and exploring the small cliffside town. We then drove to a winery in Tuscany called Castello Banfi where we went into complete relaxation mode. We did wine tastings, sat by the pool and walked through the vineyards of our winery tucked away in the hills of Montalcino. Our last 2 nights we spent exploring Rome and then Berlin as we started to wind our trip down. Loved them all and can’t wait to go back abroad again soon!
