Becky and Matt at Arrowhead Golf in Wheaton, Illinois

When I photographed Becky and Matt’s Engagement Session last Summer, I was so excited to work with them again on their Wedding day. They are so good together, and as I found out on their Wedding day, their family and friends are just as wonderful. I also got to work with the brilliantly talented Kristen from Kio Kreations again! Check out her work in some of the images below. Some of the below images were taken by my main 2nd Photographer, Nicoletta. We are such a great team!

Check out this awesomely answered Q&A from the Bride and Groom!

Looking back, what was your favorite part or moment of the Wedding day?
Becky: The ultimate best part of the day was seeing Matt for the first time, when the church doors opened. I will cherish that genuine look of happiness on Matt’s face the rest of my life!

Matt: Watching Becky walk down the aisle was the best part by far!

What was your favorite piece of fashion or accessory, and where did you get it?
Becky: My dress was definitely my most favorite item I wore on my wedding day. It was exactly what I wanted when I saw while browsing online, I knew that would be the dress for me! When I went to try on the Paloma Blanca dress at Mira Couture in Chicago, the cliché rang true that I just knew that it would be the dress I’d walk down the aisle to marry the love of my life!

Also, since neither of my grandmothers were alive to attend our ceremony, it was important to include them somehow into our special day. I had one of my grandmother’s blue hankies sewn into the inside bottom of my dress for my “something blue” and I was able to include a few of my nana’s jeweled hat pins in my bouquet for my “something old.”

Matt: The watch Becky gave me as a wedding gift, right before the wedding ceremony.

What was the inspiration for your decor or styling?
Becky: When deciding on styling and décor for the wedding day, websites such as Pinterest, Style Me Pretty, and Ruffled Blog, were extremely helpful to collect our interests and put together all the ideas! I’ve always been a fan of shabby-chic décor so I went in that direction. I did add a little bit of a vintage element, as well, as my mom and I stumbled upon my grandmother’s typewriter and just knew we had to include it in the wedding! We also used my great grandmother’s vintage buttons on the handle of my bouquet.

Matt: Becky 🙂

Mention a funny moment here:
Becky: After boarding the trolley to head out and take photos with the bridal party, Matt spilled an entire cooler of ice down the front of his suit! Thankfully the weather was warm and quickly dried his spill before the first photo location stop!

Matt: After dinner was done, people were starting to mill around and I was anxious to start the first dance and kept pressing people. Little did I know we were going to be surprised with fireworks. I was a little embarrassed I kept asking to start the dance, but it was well worth the wait!

Any advice for future Brides and Grooms?
Two important pieces of advice that were given to me and I am so glad I knew beforehand:
1. After the wedding ceremony, be sure to set some time alone with your new husband/wife, where you can relish in all the excitement of joining hands in marriage! We had about 10 minutes before we made our grand exit of the church and this was perfect for us to share a moment together by ourselves!
2. Throughout the day be sure to take mental snapshots of your surroundings. It’s so very true that the day is nothing but a whirlwind and goes quick, but because I made sure to do this, I feel content that I took in as much of the day as I possibly could have and will remember those moments forever!

Are you going on honeymoon? Where?
We just arrived home from lovely Costa Rica! We spent the first half of our trip in the gorgeous Arenal Volcano region, where we went on adventurous excursions in the rainforest! The second half of our trip was spent on the beautiful Playa Conchal coast, where we relaxed on the beach, drank delicious drinks and ate amazing food, and toured the town of Tamarindo. Perfect place to spend as newlyweds together!
